This IS great, except if it were not for YouTube the bicyclist would be sitting in jail right now, which is not great.

  •

what the f*** did the bicyclist do? shouldn't it be the COP who has criminal charges brought against him?

I am getting so sick of police abusing the badge. I'm glad this guy got off; the officer should be the one going to jail.

"Patrick Pogan, was stripped of his badge and gun and assigned to desk duty. The Police Department was investigating."

why was he not charged, the way the rest of us would be? if i come to work and push someone down the stairs i don't get a demotion.... i get fired and charged with assault. where is this guys lawyer?

this is ONLY because it was video recorded. If not for that the victim would have also been convicted. This is why tohose who recorded the protests were targeted by the facsists in the st. paul police dept.

I have to agree - why wasn't the cop disciplined in a MEANINGFUL way?!?

He totally lined up the bike rider - it's plain as day. You can even see the biker swerving to get AWAY from him.

    Total BS. Prosecute the cop.

this is true miscarriage of justice. there should have been no charges and no dismissing of them to begin with. This police officer (and all those RNC/DNC police officers recently, too) acted outside of the law. This is outrageous and it has to stop or we have to rise up and stop it.

Nice body check! Now critical mass cycling becomes a real sport along with hockey and football.

Youtube justice seems to be the only thing working for the citizenry these days.

That is a sad commentary on american life.

Statements by the organizer of the cyclist event commented that police overreaction and brutality was the norm and went completely without any hope for recourse.

When will you people stop snickering about community organizing and actually organize your selves and address the issues that are facing your citizens?

It's shameful that this cyclist could be treated the way he was on a busy street with NO ONE stepping in to help.

In other countries we see mobs of regular peope pouncing on corrupt officials to protect innocent citizens.

    You guys have youtube.

    So fucking pathetic.

This is why they where arresting people with cameras and doing unconstitutional raids at the RNC.

For some reason I have not been able to put this story out of my mind.

For many reasons really, in sanity and corruption of the american police, the lack of positive intervention of bystanders and the web as a tool of justice.

I think that it is a really great thing that there is justice coming to those who would otherwise bee SOL.

This is not the only story that comes to mind when an anonymous person posts a video or document that bring justice to the place it needs to be.

    That is an amazing thing.

As the large communication companies spend their millions on lobbyists to purchase our politicians and remove our net neutrality this is something that will be missed.

"After the video emerged showing the policeman knocking Long to the ground, the officer, Patrick Pogan, was stripped of his badge and gun and assigned to desk duty. The Police Department was investigating."

investigating? what the fuck is there to investigate? it is CLEAR the cop was in the wrong, as the judge ruled.

investigating = buying time to sweep this under the rug.
