A Day Without A Gay

Image...
In the light of recent events that have taken place in the state of California, many people have decided that it’s time to take matters into our own hands. We will not sit back and let the rest of the world decide what we can and cannot do in America the Free.

We have borrowed from the Chicano movement and modified their "Day without a Mexican" into "Day without a Gay."

This concept is simple, but makes a huge impact.

On December 10th, 2008 we ask that all people in the LGBT community and all of our supporters call in sick to work and do not attend school. We ask that you do not purchase anything that day. We want California to see how many of us there are, and that there may be a person in their life that they didn’t know was gay.

Please join us. I know, personally, how extremely difficult it can be to come out and be open about yourself. I have overcome my fear, and I hope that all of you are able to as well.

We need to stand strong in California, and around the country. We need those that oppose us to know that we are strong and that we will NEVER GIVE UP.

Join us, and gain your equality. **this is not restricted to California**

this event is not restricted to gays and lesbians

straight allies are welcome to join in as well as transgendered people and anyone who is or isn't part of the queer community

this also is open to people in all states and all countries

so take a load off and save some cash for equality on december 10th

    sorry for the bad translation:

I'm gonna step in and say why not include everyone in the GLBT community? the B's and that T's always seem to be left out of events like this. I am a transgender person and I am working to expand minds and educate people on trans issues. I think we all need to stand together in order for out voice to be heard, loud and clear.

Day with out straight would be far more damaging and just as pointless.

The obvious notion is that without anyone one "group" of people life would be far more difficult...for many hands make the load light, so the saying goes.

I do love the poster presented here. So creative...and very powerful. Whoever created that, great job.

I know people who will like this and I'll share it with them, but I think it's bad idea, great for what it's trying to do as in making people feel energized and motivated...but over all I think what will end up happening is nothing.

I believe stubbornness is powerful and if you ever read the Bible and the story of Moses and Pharaoh---then you know how powerful stubbornness can be and that's what people are dealing with here.

Hope that it fails ... like the other "without the" failed ...

Then it can be seen that it's insignificant ... as before, the economic effects will be unknown and the boycott will failto halt "business as usual", with commerce may slow a bit in certain areas [like the interior design shops, jk =-].

Well, Well! I can breathe a sigh of relief on 12/10/08. Finally a day I can go about my business and not be offended by the blatant behavior and “sensitivities” of this group of deviants in the workplace.

Halleluiah! A day when the work place will be free of this visually and auditory offensive population; thus, removing – if only for one day- the eggshells upon which one must walk so as not to have the screaming, tantrums of the overly dramatic/”sensitive” thrust upon the work places.

Please, PLEASE!! Continue your efforts, organize, boycott, set up your own land, with laws and culture to your liking. Let me and the majority have some peace! Even if it is only for one day.

National strike for gay rights, count me in!

If we turn out in numbers like we did this Saturday, we will make an enormous impact.

We should use that day to show up at our state capitals.

I think this would be hilarious if some random straight person called out that day completely oblivious that the day was supposed to happen and was actually sick. And then subsequently was fires among other gays in the company who didn't show up and just because you call out doesn't give you a real excuse, you really might lose your job. This is just stupid. The world is no better or worse with out gays, they're just those..wierd people the most people try to avoid, yet accept. Fuck this bullshit. I'm buying twice as much shit that day.

May I humbly suggest your fight the "H8" with patient, scientific explanation and remove sexual pride from the public forum in the future.

I find people wearing "sex" on their sleeve offensive, the same way I would find it offensive if anyone else walks up to me and starts discussing their sex life.

For the record, just remember you are opening the door to mass anarchy and the right to marry multiple people, sheep, and inanimate objects as well.
