On Israel and Palestine, We Should Call It A Day

Image...
It may seem very simple and devoid of policy but the only solution I see for the Middle East is a upsurge of secular pluralism. That seems like hopelessly wishful thinking, however, as the Middle East has been rooted in faith for millenia. The prominent religion in the region is led by a figure who was both a prophet and a military leader and preached religious governance. How can we expect secularism from a region like that?

When someone comes up with an effective way for the US to untie itself from Israel without severe consequences, let me know.
I've yet to hear anything realistic.

Actually Israel, as a nation, is quite secular right now. That's who is to say that they will not be after they experience some sort of spiritual revival (this may occur after they realized that all their allies turn their backs on them including US and UK). Right now, it is mostly the US and UK evangelicals who provide the continuous US/UK support to Israel. But what will happen when "the one who restrains is removed"? Secularism will rise in the US and Israel will be left alone.

the middle east and the attending religious fanatics are very scary. but then again the USA and their religious fanatics are also very scary. Religion is just a bad dis-ease.

The atheists are the good guys, follow the path of atheism and all this crap just disappears.

Hitler was an atheist...as well as Stalin and the rest of the communists who were responsible for the deaths of tens of millions. I don't have concrete numbers, but I would venture to say that atheist dictators killed more in the past century than religious fanatics have in recent memory.
